The Center for Counseling and Education offers a Certificate in Pastoral Counseling.

This certificate course is for ordained pastors or licensed mental health care professionals. It is designed to enhance and substantiate (though not required for) the basic "Member" level of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. This course is required for staff of the Center for Counseling and Education. It is also required if staff members of CCE are requested to offer letters of endorsement for candidates for Member level of AAPC.

48 hours (normally one year), of the following experience-

Class work—

Pastoral Counseling 101: Readings in Pastoral Counseling
Basic texts, journal articles, with written reviews and first integration paper
Six Hours (CEU's available for LPC's)

Pastoral Counseling 102: Clinical Issues in Spirituality and Psychotherapy
Basic texts, journal articles, with written reviews, autobiographical article, and second integration paper
Six Hours (CEU's available for LPC's)

Clinical Supervision—

Individual Supervision of psychotherapy, spirituality, and the healing process
12   one-hour supervision sessions

Case Conference group on psychotherapy, spirituality, and the healing process
12   two-hour group sessions

Cost: The course as a unit costs $1,200.00 Classes are $90 each within the course; group supervision is $30 for each 2 hour group, and $60 for each 1 hour individual supervision.

Applications, Professional Vita, and relevant transcripts are required.

Format:

Monthly, 90 minute sessions

Six month, six session commitment, you "buy the chair"

$30 per session

Confidentiality, accountability, group process, care for the "therapeutic self" of the practitioner

Uses the model for self care for professionals from the Alban Institute, based in research on stress, burn-out, and self care for those in helping profession
