Your pigeon can enable CCE to help hurting people discover their homing spirit. While lifting others, you'll enjoy an Autumn afternoon with friends, food, music, and keeping eyes to the skies of Lookout Mountain for the arrival of the pigeons.

Some of us are learning to fly, some are driven by storms,
Some of us are far from home and have flown alone too long,
Some of us have lost our way, some have even fallen;
With help we all can lift our sights to find a new horizon.

THE EVENT: Blue Skies . . .

. . . is an annual fall event to raise funds to benefit those who receive counseling by the Center for Counseling and Education. Located at Dr. John Lamberton’s Lookout Mountain Ranch, this is a family oriented event featuring a homing pigeon race, animals (come see Porkchop!) – plus live music, a comic/MC, delicious catered food, an awesome silent auction, the beauty of the great outdoors, and a wonderful view of the Tulsa skyline. Homing pigeons that nest at the ranch will be released from the Oklahoma City area about 2 hours before the event. As the pigeons arrive at their lofts, computer chips attached to their legs will automatically be scanned and their names and arrival times recorded and displayed. We encouraged you to sponsor a specific bird with a donation (see next page). Groups are welcome for sponsoring a pigeon! There will be prizes for the winning sponsors.

THE NEED:

The need for pastoral counseling is greater today than ever before. Half of all marriages end in divorce. An estimated 38,000 people suffer from depression here each year. In recent years, the metro area has lost 25,000 jobs. More people come to us for help, and use our income-adjusted fees and counseling scholarships. In fact, client fees comprise less than half of the funds CCE needs to operate. The Center has operated for 24 years because of concerned, caring donors like you. The Center must raise about $100,000 each year. We seek to meet the demand for services by adding additional therapists, opening satellite offices, and increasing scholarships. These goals are attainable if many people are committed to supporting a faith-sensitive pastoral counseling center for all.

THE ORGANIZATION:

The Center for Counseling & Education - a freestanding, non-profit pastoral counseling center - helps mend the minds, hearts and souls of men, women, children, couples and families. For 24 years, the Center has been reaching out to all in need. Staff members are fully licensed professionals who also belong to the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. Today, many diverse congregations support CCE as the pastoral counseling resource for their members and for the greater Tulsa community. Clients of all faiths are welcome and accepted wherever they are on their own faith journey. CCE does not proselytize or evangelize.
